We at Anshe Hesed are constantly reaching out to others. Whether it is an event targeted at a specific group, or an adult education program that is open to the community, outreach is something we live, not just occasionally practice.
Our Latke Party and our 2nd night Seder, for instance, are often attended by community members who wish to learn more about our holidays and celebrate with us. Once they attend, they are usually back year after year! Our adult education programs are open to the community and we co-sponsor programming with other community organizations.
Our “Taste of Judaism” class, taught by the Rabbi, introduces Judaism to many people.
On Erev Rosh Hashonah, we will have a dinner at a local restaurant. We will go out into the community AS a community. And on Rosh Hashanah we walk as a congregation, through the community to a local park for Taschlich.
We have had “College night” Shabbat dinners, inviting college students from the area (Penn State Behrend, Mercyhurst, Allegheny, Gannon, Edinboro and LECOM) and hope to continue this tradition.
We are a congregation of caring individuals who reach out to others to teach, to learn from, to inspire and to have fun!
